Protests spread in US following arrestee's death

On Thursday, the third night of demonstrations, protesters focused their ire on the Police Department's 3rd Precinct, the base for four officers involved in the incident who were fired after Floyd's death.

A total lack of leadership. Either the very weak Radical Left Mayor, Jacob Frey, get his act together and bring the City under control, or I will send in the National Guard & get the job done right.”

This is no time for incendiary tweets,” Mr. Biden said over a livestream from his basement. “It’s no time to encourage violence.”

Protests are raging across the country Friday night over the death of George Floyd, a black man who died in police custody earlier this week in Minneapolis. Anger has boiled over in major cities tonight, including Atlanta, where protesters are clashing with police, vandalizing buildings and setting police cruisers on fire.

A video showed protesters mounting the CNN sign at the network's headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, and raising a Black Lives Matter flag.

Protesters also torched an American flag outside CNN Center in Atlanta and broke the glass near the entrance of the center.

Minneapolis law enforcement officers have arrested a number of people who ignored dispersal orders in the area around the city's 5th precinct, according to the state's Department of Public Safety.

Derek Chauvin, 44, was arrested late Friday morning and charged with third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter four days after he pinned his knee on Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes Monday at the intersection of E. 38th Street and Chicago Avenue as the unarmed and handcuffed man told him he couldn’t breathe.
